As Leigh and Tim sat down to sign the marriage register, the bridesmaids wasted no time in getting a look at the wedding ring, and the couple wasted no time in showing to them.  :)

A long time ago when I was about to get married, a very wise man took me aside and said “You will really understand what your wedding vows mean about five years into your marriage”.

Going on fifteen years later, I have come to realise the real wisdom in what he said.

Yes I know “jump shots” are a cliche… but they are just sooo much fun to do!

One of the things that I do before doing a jump shot is that I give the subjects a “pre flight briefing” amongst other more mundane cautions (make sure you don’t poke out the eye of the person next to you) I offer this one bit of advice…

“The key to a successful jumpshot is to abandon any attempt to look cool doing it. Go for BIG! Go for AWESOME! Go for LOUD, IN YOUR FACE, EXUBERANCE!”  

This group did and the result shows. 

Yes there is a place for “quiet dignity” in wedding photographs, but this shot is not that place.

Leigh and Tim got married on the beach at the Barbados Yacht Club, with their family and friends in attendance. I’ll be featuring shots from their wedding over the next week or so.

The weather was postcard perfect and the light was almost magical. It’s hard to take a bad shot when you have light like this.

Joan and Angus’ had a vintage themed wedding. It was held at a historic great house, and Joan arrived at the ceremony in a vintage Model T Ford, Joan’s dress design was based on a classic theme, and a relatively large number of the photos were delivered in a sepia (or in this case) faded vintage look. 

An interesting idea that in the end produced an elegant yet impactful wedding.

After Joan and Angus’ ceremony at Bagatelle Great House, we were doing the formal photoshoot when I spotted this shaft of sunlight in a shady area. I think this is the only time that I have ever posed a couple in the middle of a parking lot

Joan and Angus were the regional winners of the Your Wedding Canvas Destination Wedding Competition, they received an all expenses paid wedding (including the photography)! I will be featuring  images from their wedding over the next few days.

The competition will be featured on WSEE/CBS very soon. (I’ll blog the details when it is scheduled for broadcast)
